Terms of use

Effective 2026-07-05

BranchOut is a small app for keeping a library, a reading log, and lending books to friends. These terms say plainly what you can expect from it and what it expects from you. Creating an account means you agree to them.

The service

BranchOut is a young project run by a small team. It’s provided as is: we work to keep it fast, correct, and online, but we don’t promise uninterrupted service, and features may change as the product grows. We’ll be thoughtful about changes that affect your data.

Your account

One account per person, with accurate information. You’re responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. You must be at least 13 to use BranchOut.

Acceptable use

What you write — reviews, notes, usernames, display names — is visible to the people your visibility settings allow. Don’t use it to harass, impersonate, or threaten anyone; don’t post content that’s illegal or that you don’t have the right to share; don’t probe, scrape, or disrupt the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. You can block anyone at any time from their profile, and blocking is mutual and silent.

Your content

Your catalog, log, and reviews are yours. You give us only the license needed to store them and show them to the people you’ve chosen — nothing more. Deleting content, or your account, removes it (details in the privacy policy).

Lending is between you

BranchOut records loans; it isn’t a party to them. The books, the due dates, and anything that happens to a borrowed copy are between you and the person you lend to or borrow from. We’re not responsible for lost, damaged, or unreturned books.

Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from the account page. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with notice when practical.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app before the change takes effect. The current version always lives at this address.
